:I understand what you mean but imagine this: some Perl beginner is trying to copy&paste this code but sadly it doesn't work because he/she has previous version of Perl installed. It may be difficult to translate given/when to if/elsif/else. Some people only use Perl versions bundled with other software and in most cases these are not the most recent ones. ::Hi EEgg, an alternative is to leave the current one that works for the most up-to-date Perl 5, then add a version that works for previous versions or state what features need to change for earlier versions. We like to show off the best /most idiomatic.
