This program iterates over all subsequences by forced backtracking, caused by the failing node <code>~</code> at the end of the middle part of the pattern. The combination of flags <code>[%</code> on an expression creates a pattern that succeeds if and only if the expression is successfully evaluated. <code>sjt</code> is an extra argument to any function that is part of a pattern and it contains the current subexpression candidate. Inside the pattern the function <code>sum</code> sums over all elements in <code>sjt</code>. The currently longest maximal subsequence is kept in <code>seq</code>.

The general theory of operation is as follows.
* The <code>max_subsequence</code> function is a composition of three functions, one to generate the sequences, one to sum all of them, and one to pick out the one with the maximum sum.
* The function that sums all the sequences is <code>* ^/~& sum:-0</code> which applies to every member of a list (by the <code>*</code> operator) and forms a pair (using the <code>^</code> operator) of the identity function (<code>~&</code>) of its argument, and the reduction (<code>:-</code>) of the sum over a list with a vacuous case result of 0.
* The function that picks out the maximum sum is <code>zleq$^l&r/&</code>, which uses the maximizing operator (<code>$^</code>) over a list of pairs with respect to the integer ordering relation (<code>zleq</code>) applied to the right sides of the pairs (<code>&r</code>), after which the left side (<code>l</code>) of the maximizing pair is extracted. The <code>/&</code> inserts an extra pair <code>(<>,0)</code> at the beginning of the list before searching it in case it's empty or has only negative sums.
* The function that generates all the sequences is <code>~&aayK33PfatPRTaq</code>, which appears as a suffix of the <code>*</code> operator rather than being used explicitly.
* The sequence generating function is in the form of a recursive conditional (<code>q</code>) with predicate <code>a</code>, inductive case <code>ayK33PfatPRT</code> and base case <code>a</code>, meaning that in the base case of an empty list argument, the argument itself is returned.
* The inductive case, <code>ayK33PfatPRT</code> is a concatenation (<code>T</code>) of two functions <code>ayK33</code> and <code>fatPR</code>
* The latter function, <code>fatPR</code> is a recursive call (<code>R</code>) of the enclosing recursive conditional (<code>f</code>) with the tail of the argument (<code>at</code>).
* The remaining function, <code>ayK33</code> uses the ''triangle-squared'' combinator <code>K33</code> of the list-lead operator <code>y</code> applied to the argument <code>a</code>.
* The list lead operator <code>y</code> by itself takes a non-empty list as an argument and returns a copy with the last item deleted.
* The triangle-squared combinator <code>K33</code> constructs a function that takes an input list of a length <math>n</math>, constructs a list of <math>n</math> copies of it, and applies its operand 0 times to the head, once to the head of tail, twice to the head of the tail of the tail, and so on. Hence, an operand of <code>y</code> will generate the list of all prefixes of a list.
