:Signing in also offers the ability to tag edits as minor edits so that users who watch the [[Special:RecentChanges|recent changes feed]] (like me) don't accidentally check up on edits like [http://rosettacode.org/mw/index.php?title=Metaprogramming&curid=8714&diff=121121&oldid=121120 this one].
