Normally a ''bare'' {{TeX}} is hardly usable to typeset, so ''macro packages'' are often used. The basic macro package given as default is plainTeX[[PlainTeX|{{PlainTeX}}]]; a very common and widely used macro package is [[LaTeX|{{LaTeX}}]], but there are many.
