I can spell out the J examples in more detail. I'm not sure that it will help much, because J has a rich set of primitives (built in operations), so recreating the example in another language will entail recreating the primitives, too. So you might not save much work.

 

 

None the less, let's start with the solution which is probably easiest to rewrite in another language.
