I've removed omit from Fortran since this task can be implemented a lot better than the C code example. Using modules, overloading and derived types Fortran "seems" a lot more object oriented than C... Moreover... Second thought: Fortran (2003) can polymorphism and more; even Fortran95 could, with quirks... I am downloading the Intel Fortran compiler for noncommercial usage right now... if it works, I'll try to write full Fortran 2003 code...
