In the 1991 movie "Terminator 2: Judgement Day", the character ''John Connor'' (played by Edward Furlong) used some kind of electric device which hooked up (illegally) to an ATM to simulate the pressing of all the possible 4-digit PIN codes (presumably a '''de Bruijn''' sequence) which enabled him to steal the cash that the ATM dispensed (presumably a stolen or "borrowed" credit card).
Later, that same character also used the same device to open a door that had a PIN-code type lock at Cyberdyne's research facility.
