Talk:Terminal control/Preserve screen

It might be useful, for this task, to define "screen".

Is a screen a collection of pixels? Is it a window? Does it include the window decorations? Is it a desktop and everything on the desktop? Is a screen some different kind of device (like the display on a cell phone, or a collection of characters, or perhaps characters + decorative attributes)?

Or maybe we should define terminal (X Terminal? VT100 Terminal? 3270 Terminal?)

Anyways, these terminal control tasks have long bothered me, because of the heavy ambiguity in their descriptions, and when we do not even have a working example my imagination runs wild. --Rdm 14:53, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
