ActivityRahul has contributed a lot of examples in V, Joy, Erlang, and Make. IanOsgood added a fair amount of esoteric examples. Paddy3118 sprinkled more Python examples in. A lot of other activity this week has been in new tasks (which we finally started getting again).New TasksIt seems that everyone has been saving their new task ideas until this week. First we have the Ackermann Function, which is a common example for teaching recursion. Next is the Monte Carlo Simulation task, which approximates pi using the relation between the area of a square and circle with equal widths. The Words of Equal Characters task asks the programmer to find words which contain the same number of the same characters, and print out the largest groups of words with this relation. HTTP Request is a component of Web Scraping and asks the programmer to simply print the raw content of a webpage. Convert an Integer to Words needs a description, but it seems that the programmer needs to take a number and change it to English words with hyphens and commas where appropriate. Finally, Index in a List asks the programmer to find a needle in a haystack (a.k.a. find a string in a list). There will probably be a storm of activity around these tasks.Still NeededNow that we have new tasks, we need new examples. It'd be nice to get these new tasks up to 10 or 15 examples in the next week.

Sorry for the late post. I was away from the internet on Friday and Saturday. It seems not much has gone on anyway.ActivityFr33ke added some Factor examples (Factor hasn't seen activity for a while). Gregg.lind added an R example (R hasn't seen activity for a while). Most other activity was a smattering across a bunch of languages (Make, OCaml, Java, C, Python, BASIC, and Haskell, among others).Still NeededMore discussion on the libheader template. There is a new idea to make the libheader into a subheading instead of just a bolded note. Discussion is needed to see if users think it would be beneficial.

ActivityThis week has been pretty light. RapidQ and Clojure each got little boosts (from PauliKL and an anonymous user, respectively). There has been talk on the Web Scraping task about its simplicity.New ProjectEvery once in a while, we put up a task that's a little more than a task. RCBF and RCSNUSP are projects, and now we have a new one to join them. RCRPG is a simple, text-based, 3D dungeon game, initially written in Perl by Short Circuit. The commands aren't complicated, there are only three items, and there are no enemies.Still NeededMore activity. Lately the site has been pretty calm. We need something going on. Get on the talk pages or get coding. Anything. These weekly updates are getting boring to write.

ActivityBlue Prawn contributed a lot of OCaml and cleaned up Program Termination. Rahul came back after a month-long absence to add some more Make examples. There is still some discussion about the Sequence of Non-Squares task. The main dispute is whether the task is allowed to be solved with a cute formula or if it should be solved by brute force.New UserThe only new thing this week is a new user. Gaaijz is another addition to the J community on RC who already seems to know a few people.Still NeededTasks related to The Art of Computer Programming. It would be a neat category to have, and it would probably make some of our more CS-advanced users happy to have it.
